× From the first notes to the final breath, West Side Story is one of the most memorable musicals and greatest love stories of all time. Arthur Laurents' book remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever. The score by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim are widely regarded as among the best ever written. The world's greatest love story takes to the streets in this landmark Broadway musical that is one of the theatre's finest accomplishments. Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is transported to modern-day New York City as two young, idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the "American" Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time. Rated PG-13

Bradenton Kiwanis Theater
× Based on the 1975 documentary film of the same name, Grey Gardens The Musical is a tragic, frequently funny, and utterly unforgettable musical about two “staunch” and legendary American women: Edith Bouvier Beale, and her grown daughter, Edie. Grey Gardens begins at the grand 1941 engagement party of stunning and spirited “Little Edie” Beale to handsome Navy man Joe Kennedy, Jr., hosted by Edie’s mother, Edith Bouvier Beale. As the upper-crust, New England family gathers, so do the storm clouds of trouble that eventually leave both “Big” and “Little” Edie alone and heartbroken. The second act launches the narrative into the overgrown, cat-riddled, and bug-infested estate in 1973, where the two Edies live, alone. “Big Edie” is now bedridden, and “Little Edie” grows more eccentric by the day, haunted by dreams of love and success, long since dashed. Weaving documentary text with imaginative speculation, the musical documents the journey of the Beales from royalty to ruin. With a diverse musical songbook, including Tin Pan Alley jigs and soaring ballads, Grey Gardens is a unique tapestry of lost dreams, sacrifice, and unstoppable hope-- heartfelt, witty, and compassionate. Rated PG

× INSPIRATION March 9, 2013 Luke Bernard was in a near fatal car acci-dent. He entered L.A. County Hospital with barely a pulse. He had a GCS of 3 with dilated and fixed pupils, and had a zero chance of survival. The neurosurgeon performed emergency surgery. A 4 x 5 inch piece of his skull was needed to be removed allowing the damaged brain to swell. Doctors removed two blood clots on his brain. He had two broken vertebrae in his neck and back, as well as facial and rib fractures. Thousands were mobilized to pray for complete recovery. Luke had a miraculous recovery, returning home to Florida after six weeks in the hospital.

DREAM BECOMES MOVIE Two months after returning home, Luke had a crani-alplasty to replace his skull. Those with brain trauma typically have insomnia. Luke was no exception. However, one evening he had a deep sleep and God gave him a dream. The next morning, he was excited that he had slept and told his parents about the dream. His parents encouraged him to write the dream down, believing it would be good for his rehab. One month and 90 pages later, Luke had written the first draft of The Favorite. Six months prior to this, Luke was relearning to write his name.

ABOUT THE FILM The Favorite is about two brothers. One brother, Luke, is a star college soccer player converging on a pro career. The other brother, Benjamin perceives his brother is the favorite. Soccer is his father’s favorite sport. Ben pursues MMA fighting in hopes to win his father’s favor.

The two brothers reluctantly are on a double date. A car accident oc-curs. One brother suffers the same injuries as Luke Bernard. The mi-raculous recovery is also depicted. Through a series of events, Benja-min realizes that his perceptions of favoritism were wrong and recon-ciles with God, his father and brother.
